Former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner, on Friday, posted an emotional message on social media as his side locked horns with the Mumbai Indians in their last round robin game. The 2016 champions are set to finish at the bottom of the points table this year. 

Warner, who was first sacked as captain and then dropped out of the playing 11, thanked his fans for being a driving force. The Aussie has played two matches in the United Arab Emirates leg. He finishes the season with 195 runs in eight games at an average of 24.37 and strike rate of 107.73. Kane Williamson replaced Warner as skipper. However, for their game versus the Mumbai Indians, SRH are being led by Manish Pandey.

“Thank You for the memories created. To all the fans, you have been a driving force for our team always to give 100%. I can’t thank you all enough for the support shown. It’s been a great ride. My family and I are going to miss you all!! #respect #cricket #hyderabad One last effort today,” Warner wrote in a message on Instagram.

It was under David Warner’s leadership that Sunrisers Hyderabad won their maiden and only IPL title in 2016. The 34-year-old won Orange Cap three times – in 2015, 2017 and 2019. He is however, included in Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup.

Warner has won the Orange Cap three times and has scored over 5000 runs in the IPL.

For Hyderabad he has scored 4014 runs in 95 matches including two centuries and 40 half centuries at an average of 50. He is the side’s highest run-scorer.

Last month, the explosive left-handed opener, after being replaced by Jason Roy in the side, Warner posted a cryptic comment on a SRH’s social media post, indicating that his stint with the side was over. Against Rajasthan Royals, fans noticed that Warner was missing from the stadium. Puzzled, one of the fans commented on SRH’s Instagram post, asking where was Warner since he could not be spotted in the stadium.

“Unfortunately won’t be again keep supporting please,” Warner had replied.
