Indian bowler Ishant Sharma, on Monday, became the third Indian pacer to take 300 Test wickets. He achieved this feat on the fourth day of the opening Test between India and England in Chennai.
Sharma had reached wicket number 299th during England’s first innings of the Test.
England’s Daniel Lawrence became the Indian pacer’s 300 Test wicket during the visitor’s second innings.
Other than Sharma, former India captain Kapil Dev and former India international Zaheer Khan has 434 and 311 Test wickets respectively.
The 32-year-old bowler has 11 five-wicket hauls to his name and a solitary 10-wicket haul. His best Test bowling figure is 7/74.
