Jordan Love and Sean Clifford led the Green Bay Packers to a 36-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the team’s first preseason game on Friday.

Playing at the Paul Brown Stadium, Love completed 7-of-10 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Clifford, a Penn State rookie, took over in the second half. He led three touchdown drives and was intercepted twice by Bengals’ Tycen Anderson.

Sean Clifford had 20 completed passes – from 26 attempts – for 206 yards. Alexander McGough was not played vs Cincinnati.

For the Bengals, star quarterback Joe Burrow, who is out with a calf strain, was on the sidelines. Jake Browning and Trevor Siemian covered for him on Friday.

Love and Clifford are taking over the Packers after the team’s mostly successful Aaron Rodgers era. The veteran QB joined the New York Jets in this off-season.

The two quarterbacks had 14 receivers at their disposal. Emanuel Wilson ran for two touchdowns, including a breakaway 80-yarder. For the Bengals, Browning went 10 for 17 for 95 yards and an interception. Siemian went 15 for 28 for 121 yards and an interception in the second half.

Jordan Love vs Sean Clifford:

While Love is Green Bay’s designated QB after Rodgers, Clifford has shown promise. The former spent three seasons as the backup to the four-time MVP. He had completed 14 out of his 21 attempted passes in the 2022 season for 195 yards and one touchdown. He had 11.70 fantasy points against his name.

The 24-year-old is projected to score more than 200 fantasy points this year.

Clifford, 25 years old, finished his career as Penn State’s all-time leader in wins as a starting quarterback (32), completion percentage (. 614), completions (833), passing yards (10,661), total yards (11,734), passing touchdowns (86) and pass attempts (1,356).
