The Golden State Warriors recovered from a surprise reversal in Game 1 of the NBA Finals to script a commanding win over the Boston Celtics. With scores almost level at half-time, the Warriors upped gears in the third quarter, turning a two-point lead into 23 point advantage. Golden State carried their mojo into the 4th, snaring the first six points in the final quarter. With the game well beyond their grasp, the Celtics gave their bench a taste of the running as the Warriors settled into an easy rhythm, seeing off the game comfortably.

While Steph Curry was the obvious star of the show-grabbing 29 points overall, including 14 in the third quarter itself- there was ample support from fellow bigwigs Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. However, Jordan Poole grabbed the headlines with a buzzer-beating three-pointer from midcourt at the close of the third. Receiving the ball on the edge of the Warriors’ D, he powered past the halfway-stripe before finding space to let rip from far. The ball would laser through the basket to scenes of absolute pandemonium inside the Chase Centre.

The Warriors also had Andrew Wiggins and Kevin Looney to thank for their solid on-court showing. For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum bagged 28 points, 21 of which came in the first half. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White also crossed the 10-point mark for The C’s, scoring 17 and 12 respectively. After rising from the dust in Game 1, Boston was handed their first defeat at the Warrior’s new home ending a 4-0 record away to Golden State. With the finals poised 1-1, and three games on the bounce at Boston’s TD Garden base, the Warriors will look to squash the C-Green Smash Machine.
