Jurgen
Klopp
, the manager of Liverpool FC, has signed a new two-year
contract extension
at Anfield. The German had two years left on his current
contract and had previously stated that he would leave at the end of it, but he
is now poised to stay until at least the summer of 2026.

In addition
to Klopp’s new deal, the Reds have disclosed that assistant managers Pep Ljinders
and Peter Krawietz have signed new contracts with the Merseyside club. There
had been some concern that Ljinders might take over administration himself, but
those concerns have now been quelled.

Commenting on the renewal, Klopp admitted that his wife’s wish to stay in Liverpool was a big factor in his
decision to extend his contract at Anfield. Klopp came to Liverpool in 2015 with Ulla Sandrock whom he married in 2005. The pair met during Oktoberfest in Munich,
and the Reds manager joked on social media that he was being a “good
husband” by honoring his wife’s desire to stay in the northwest.

He stated on
Liverpool’s Twitter account, “There’s something to announce. Like last
time some will like it, some will not like it too much. If you don’t like it,
stop watching now. I stay for another two years… and only me. No, all my
coaches will as well, which is the most important actually. Why? Is now the
question. Because Ulla wants to stay and as a good husband what are you doing
when your wife wants to stay? You are staying.”

“The
most important contract I signed in my life was the one with Ulla. And that’s
why it start again, because actually we sat at the kitchen table and Ulla said
‘I can’t see us leaving in 2024’. I said ‘what?’. That’s how it all started and
when that started I thought ‘let’s have a think,’” Klopp added.

Liverpool and Klopp are on the verge of greatness, with a quadruple still on the table. The Carabao Cup has already been won, and the Reds will now try to catch Manchester City in the title fight. Chelsea are their opponents in the FA Cup final, and they are most likely to have a place in the Champions League final.
