Lionel Messi is playing some of his best football in the ongoing tournament, despite being 35. His mazy run in the semi-final vs Croatia led to the third goal of the match for Argentina, and the second for Julian Alvarez. 

The Argentina genius takes off from the right wing, wriggles past Gvardiol, spins around, and provides a deft mass to the Manchester City forward who makes no mistake in waltzing it past Dominik Livakovic. With this goal, Croatia have conceded as many goals against Argentina in the semi-final as they have done throughout their run in the tournament.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner scored the first goal in the match from the penalty spot. He had missed a penalty against Poland in their group stage match, but since then, has been lethal from the box. He scored one penalty against the Netherlands during normal time and another one in the penalty shootout that saw Argentina go through to the semi-finals.
