Free agent point guard Gabe Vincent has left the Miami Heat and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, reported by The Athletic. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania on Twitter, Vincent has reportedly agreed to a $33 million, three-year contract with the Lakers.

As per reports, In free agency, Gabe Vincent has reached an agreement on a three-year, $33 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Vincent has previously worked for the Miami Heat for over three seasons, earning a total of $3.5 million.

In the 2019–20 season, Vincent initially signed with the Heat as an undrafted free agent, where he had little role. But as a result of his improvements, the Heat offered him a two-year deal worth $3.48 million for the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons. He also began to start games on occasion.

Gabe Vincent, 27, averaged 9.0 points per game during the regular season while shooting 40% from the field. His three-point shooting percentage was 33%. 

Vincent improved during the playoffs, scoring 12.7 points on average and shooting 38% from outside the arc. Notably, he had a big part in the Miami Heat’s incredible postseason run, which saw them go to the NBA Finals as the second No. 8 seed ever. In the end, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Heat in the championship game. Up until this moment, Vincent had played his four professional seasons for the Miami Heat.

After the Lakers signed Vincent several NBA fans expressed their joy on Twitter. One user tweeted, “Gabe Vincent signing with the Lakers is cool but I don’t get excited for shooters coming to LA… they be forgetting how to shoot”
