Manchester United have released the third kit for the 2022-23 season, which their players wore in their Premier League match against Brentford on Saturday. The fluorescent green colour of the kit has met with mixed reactions from fans. Some did not even forget to take a jibe at United missing out on Champions League qualification this season, saying that the third kit is too good for the Europa League. Some Manchester City fans have also pointed out that United have copied them in going green for their third kit.

Here’s a look at United’s third kit of the season:

A Manchester City fan is of the opinion that United took the idea of a green shirt from their city rivals:

A Twitter user has also speculated that the third kit might be the reason behind United’s poor start to the season. The Red Devils lost their first two PL games of the season to Brighton and Brentford:

A Manchester United fan who was impressed by the kit, was however irked with United’s dismal performance at its inauguration:

Before the commencement of any football season, fans remain eager to know which designs or colours (applicable for second and third kits) are being selected for their favourite as well as rival teams.

Interestingly, United have chosen a throwback collared design for their home kit this season. The collar was a mainstay in United jerseys in the 1990s, with club legends like Eric Cantona and David Beckham donning such a shirt during the club’s heydays. A shield has been introduced around the club crest in this home jersey for the first time since 2019-20.

United will play their next Premier League match on August 22 against arch-rivals Liverpool. Notably, United fans have called for a walkout during this match as a symbolic protest against club owners, the Glazer family.
