Giancarlo Stanton was named the Major League Baseball’s All-Star game MVP on Tuesday night. His team, American League All-Stars, won the game against the National League, which faced its ninth defeat in a row.

After the All-Stars game concluded 3-2, Stanton was awarded a glass bat engraved with his name from two-time MVP Steve Garvey and Billie Jean King, part of the Dodgers ownership.

“It has not fully sank in”, Giancarlo Stanton said in a post-match award ceremony, according to reports from Associated Press. The 32-year-old added, “It is going to be an amazing memory for all of our lives.”

The homer ended Stanton’s career 0 for 7 skids in the game and at 111.2 mph, it was the hardest-hit homer in an All-Star Game tracked by Statcast.

The jersey worn by Giancarlo Stanton in Tuesday’s game will be preserved in history. It is being sent to Cooperstown, New York, where it will be added to the Hall of Fame‘s memento from this year’s MLB All-Stars game. The American League players wore dark gray uniforms that blended into the plate umpire’s black shirt and dark gray pants, a style that was not appreciated by fans.

Stanton was active during the game, even when he was not batting. He was mic’d up and was constantly engaging with commentators and his teammates. During the game, he opened up about his memories attached to the Dodger Stadium, where the game was played on Tuesday.

Stanton and his father, Mike, would sit out there after buying tickets off scalpers for whatever price they could afford.

“My Pops took me to my first Dodger game, showed me how to have love for this game and now we’re here,” the New York Yankees slugger said. “Look at us, it’s just incredible.”
