Milwaukee Bucks will miss two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo against Atlanta Hawks in Saturday’s sixth game of the Eastern Conference finals due to the injury he sustained in game 4 of the same series.

The Bucks are leading 3-2 in the matchup and can advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1974 with a road victory on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old forward is recovering from a hyperextended left knee suffered when he landed awkwardly in game four of the best-of-seven series against the Hawks.

He had also missed game five of the conference final, which the bucks managed to win, due to injury.

Atlanta star point guard Trae Young was listed as questionable with a bone bruise in his right foot. He twisted his ankle stepping on a referee’s foot in game three.

The Hawks, who last reached the finals 60 years ago when based in St. Louis, need a victory to force a seventh game on Monday in Milwaukee.

Antetokounmpo bagged back-to-back NBA MVP Awards in 2019 and 2020, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James as the only players in NBA history to win two MVPs before turning 26. Along with his MVP award, he was also named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, becoming only the third player after Michael Jordan (1988) and Hakeem Olajuwon (1994) to win both awards in the same season.

The East winner will play the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.
