NBA side Toronto Raptors have gone-in to
re-sign restricted free agent Gary Trent Jr. on a multi-year deal, according to
reports emerging from the United States.

The 22-year-old guard, who is a native of
Columbus in Ohio, posted his career-best performance in the last NBA season
where he played 58 games and got 38 starts between Toronto and the Portland
Trail Blazers
.

He was a part of a trade deal between the Raptors
and the Trail Blazers alongside teammate Rodney Hood on the NBA trade deadline
day. in the deal,  the Trail Blazers
acquired Norman Powell.

With the Raptors, Trent  played 17 games last season where he posted
averages of 16.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 31.8 minutes, and shot .355 (44-124) from
three-point range.

He had a couple of standout games with the
Raptors last season when he dropped a career-high 44 points against Cleveland Cavaliers and 31 points against Oklahoma City Thunder in jaw-dropping performances.

The Raptors also made their signing of
first-round pick Scottie Barnes official, saying his contract has the rookie
with Toronto through the 2022-2023 season, with two team option years to
follow.

The 218-19 NBA champions could not even
qualify for the postseason playoffs last season as they finished fifth in the
Atlantic division of the league. The Raptors won just twenty-seven games and
lost forty-five of their seventy-two games. This was an immense slump after the
team had lifted the NBA title just two years ago and had finished at the top of
their division the previous season
