Adama Sanogo tied his career-high 20-points game as No. 24 UConn beat Coppin State 89-54 Saturday. R.J. Cole added 16 points and Tyrese Martin 15 for the Huskies men’s basketball team (2-0).
Sanogo got nine rebounds and hit 10 of 13 shots. This season, the sophomore forward has a 19-for-24 shooting percentage.
The Eagles’ Alex Rojas scored nine points in his debut game for Coppin State (0-4). Tyree Corbett added nine points as well.

In a season-opening win over Central Connecticut State on Tuesday, the Huskies made their first eight shots. In their second encounter, it was the opposition that got off to a fast start.
Coppin State led 10-6 after making four of its first five shots, including a pair of 3-pointers.
UConn replied by scoring 14 points in a row, with Cole scoring the first four and Martin scoring the next eight. The run was finished with an alley-oop from Jalen Gaffney to Akok Akok.

Gaffney had 11 points and eight assists in the game.
UConn played in the XL Center for the first time since an 81-65 victory over Central Florida on February 26, 2020. Because of the pandemic, the Huskies played all of their home games in Gampel Pavilion, their on-campus arena in Storrs, in the 2020-21 season.

Following defeats to Loyola Chicago and DePaul on back-to-back nights, as well as an 81-69 loss to Rider on Friday, this was the Eagles’ fourth game in five days. The Eagles will play ten games in November, the most of any NCAA programme.
Next up, the Eagles continue their gruelling early-season schedule with a visit to North Carolina-Greensboro on Monday. Meanwhile, the Huskies return to campus to host Long Island University on Wednesday night.
