Goals from Raul Jimenez and Max Kilman sealed a 2-1 victory for Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday as Everton‘s slump in form continued for the third straight matchday. The Rafa Benitez-managed side has failed to win in their last four Premier League encounters.

Although Everton upped the ante after the two first-half goals, they failed to find the equaliser. The Everton attack has been massively handicapped by the absence of their primary striker — Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Meanwhile, Max Kilman put Wolves ahead in the 28th minute with his first goal for the club. He headed home a Rayan Ait Nouri corner past a diving Jordan Pickford. In a matter of minutes, Jimenez doubled the lead after reacting quickly to a Ben Godfrey back pass that was vaguely directed towards Pickford. Jimenez latched on to the loose ball and chipped it above an onrushing Pickford.

Everton looked helpless in the remainder of the first half as if they hadn’t yet recovered from the shock 5-2 hammering in the hands of a struggling Watford side.

However, they came out in the second half motivated and rallied strongly after Alex Iwobi pulled a goal back. However, it was too little too late for the visitors.

Earlier in the first half, Jiménez went on a storming run through the middle of the Everton midfield before laying off a pass to Hwang Hee-chan, who at the second attempt stroked his shot in off the far post. Although it seemed like the South Korean had become the fastest Wolves player to score five Premier League goals, VAR ruled out the goal.

With the victory, Wolves have catapulted to seventh on the points table under new manager Bruno Lage. Meanwhile, Everton looks out of depth at 10th and will need to solve their defensive woes.
