Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who scored in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday, has vowed to take revenge against Liverpool in the final.

Speaking after the game, the 26-year-old midfielder said, “We want to get them back, simple as that. It was a fantastic game in the League Cup final and could have gone either way.”

Loftus-Cheek was referring to the League Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea that saw the Merseyside club lift the trophy after an 11-10 penalty shootout following a goalless draw at Wembley.

The 26-year-old played a decisive part in Chelsea’s victory at Wembley, despite having difficulties in holding down his place in the squad, and will be hopeful on featuring against Liverpool, who are chasing a quadruple, having already one piece of silverware.

The midfielder had earlier spent some time with Chelsea’s Sunday’s opponents on loan, but injuries kept him from hitting peak form.

“It has been a tough road with injuries and going on loan to find my form again,” Loftus-Cheek said, commenting on his journey thus far.

“I always wanted to play for Chelsea. I have played quite a lot this season,” the 26-year-old added. Indeed, Loftus-Cheek has been a much more common face among Chelsea’s starting eleven this season, and the midfielder will be hopeful of further game time in the weeks to come.

“The reason I am still here is my mentality through all the injuries. I still believed in myself and I said for many years my time will come,” Loftus-Cheek concluded.

Chelsea next host Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday, in what promises to be an exhilarating match in the battle for the top four.
