India and
New Zealand will be up against each other in a do-or-die Super 12 encounter of
the ICC T20 World Cup. The match will be played at the Dubai International
Stadium and is expected to be a high-scoring encounter. Both teams have a foe
in common, having lost their opening fixture to Babar Azam’s Pakistan.

Dhoni’s side started the match in good fashion and looked to be the early favorites
having limited Kane Williamson’s side to 126 runs in 20 overs. All of India’s
bowlers other than Hardik Pandya succeeded in taking a wicket while maintaining
a good economy rate.
However,
New Zealand’s bowler put in a brilliant performance with Mitchell Santner
taking 4 wickets and Ish Sodhi adding three wickets to his tally with support
from Nathan McCullum (2 wickets) and Adam Milne (1 wicket).
India’s star-studded
batting line up was bowled out for 79 runs with no batter other than Virat
Kohli 23 runs), MS Dhoni (30 runs) and Ravichandran Ashwin (10) registering
double digit scores.

The semifinal
of the 2019 World Cup saw the Indian bowlers putting in a good shift yet again.
Williamson’s men were limited for 239 runs in 50 overs but India’s batters disappointed
yet again.
Rohit
Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were all dismissed for an individual score of
1 run. Despite the best efforts of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja the Kiwis emerged
victorious.
World
Test Championship (2021)

Williamson’s men got the better of Virat Kohli’s side in the finals of the
first ever WTC. The match was plagued with rain, two entire days were washed
out but thanks to a reserve day the fans did not have to settle for a draw.
Ravi Shastri had called the trophy the ‘big daddy’ of ICC titles but his side
could not get their hands on the title.

Jamieson won the player of the match award for registering 5 wickets and 21
runs in the first innings, 2 wickets in the second innings.
Although
history is not in India’s favor going into the encounter with New Zealand,
Kohli will be hoping to break the curse in order to keep India’s hopes in the
T20 World Cup alive.
