After kicking off with the opening ceremony on July 23, the Tokyo Olympics has bloomed in its full glory even amidst a raging pandemic. Still in the early phases of the competition, a long list of athletes will be representing the United States on July 25 in at least a dozen sports including shooting, fencing, softball, basketball, and swimming.

Team USA had an underwhelming Day 2 as they failed to conquer any medal but come Sunday, there are some exciting American athletes from the roster who will compete at the highest level.

The first from the United States delegation to take part in Day 3 will be shooters Sandra Uptagrafft and Alexis Lagan in the qualifiers for the women’s 10m Air Pistol event. Taking the centre stage alongside the duo will be Amber English and Jewell Smith in the skeet shooting women’s qualification.  

In men’s skeet shooting, Vincent Hancock and Phillip Russell Jungman will take part in the qualifiers hoping to make it through to the finals, which will take place later in the day itself. 

In fencing, while Yeisser Ramirez will take on Switzerland’s Michele Niggeler in the men’s epee individual table of 64, Lee Kiefer will take on Amita Berthier of Singapore in women’s foil individual in the round of 32. 

Coming to softball, Team USA will take on Australia, while in volleyball they’ll lock horns against Argentina.

Pedro Pascual and Farah Hall will be leading the way for the United States in sailing, with Pascual competing in men’s Windsurfer races. Meanwhile, Hall will take part in women’s one person dinghy race.

United States’ hopes for a gold medal can be fulfilled in women’s road race as five Americans will be in the hunt. Chloe Dygert, Coryn Rivera, Leah Thomas and Ruth Winder will be competing for the same.

Meanwhile, the star-studded US basketball team will take the court tomorrow against France after a few underwhelming practice games.

The US team will also compete in a number of rowing events in both men’s and women’s categories. Meanwhile, Chase Kalisz, Jay Litherland will lead the line for the country in Men’s 400m individual medley final swimming. 

In boxing, Keyshawn Davis will take on Enrico Lacruz of the Netherlands in the preliminaries of the men’s lightweight division.

Nine Americans will be appearing on the court to compete in different categories of Tennis. These include Frances Tiafoe, Alison Riske, Tennys Sandgren and Jessica Pegula.
