The Tokyo Olympics, which commenced on July 23  is witnessing a cut-throat competition. China, the US and Japan are
fighting neck to neck to bag the medals. China is leading the tally with 24 gold medals and a total of 51 medals. The US stands at the second position even though
its total medal count (59) is more than that of China. Currently, the US has 20
gold, 23 bronze and 16 silver medals. Japan has won 17 gold, 5
silver and 9 bronze medals so far. Yet again India won a Bronze today which
makes it two medals for India.

Gong Lijiao
from China won the gold in Women’s Shot Put whereas Chen Yufei won the same
in Women’s Badminton Singles. The following US men won a Gold in swimming: Caeleb
Dressel in Men’s 50m Freestyle, Robert Finke in Men’s 1500m Freestyle. India’s
pride PV Sindhu won a bronze in badminton.

Lamont
Marcell Jacobs celebrated becoming the first Italian man to ever win the men’s
Olympic 100m gold medal.

Dual Gold Medalists , Mutaz Essa Barshim
from Qatar and Gianmarco Tamberi from Italy celebrated their victory after
the high jump finale at the Olympic Stadium.

Indian
badminton star PV Sindhu beat China’s He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 and made the whole country proud by winning
her second Olympics medal. She said she hopes that she can inspire a new
generation. The Indian men’s Hockey team also beat G Britain and entered semi-finals, making it a big day for India. 

Yulimar Rojas
of Venezuela hit a new world record in the triple jump final. Nina Derwael was
seen bagging a gold in uneven bars whereas Sunisa Lee won a bronze. 

Alexander Zverev, who won gold in men’s singles tennis, said that it was bizarre, in all of sports history, especially
in that of tennis as he was feeling on top of the world.
