India has won the Under-19 World Cup five times: in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and now 2022. No other team has won it more than three times.

India beat England by 4 wickets in the final of the Under-19 World Cup in Antigua. There’s a lot of youthful energy out there. Coach Kanitkar isn’t going to stop them. The Indian camp is a happy place. England deserves credit for pushing India so far.

They only had 190 balls to work with, but they bowled well to keep the pressure on. They were able to get the Angkrish first ball of their defence, but Shaik Rasheed and Harnoor Singh were able to keep the ship afloat. Rasheed had cramps on a couple of occasions, but he batted through them and scored back-to-back fifties.

England was resurrected by Sales, who got Rasheed and Yash Dhull in the space of three balls. Nishant and Raj Bawa, two left-handed bowlers, collaborated for a 67-run stand that demoralised England. Prest and company, on the other hand, fought back with two early wickets. Dinesh Bana closed the deal by hitting two sixes.

India was always in command of the chase, despite winning by by four wickets. Shaik Rasheed was unbeaten on 50, Nishant Sindhu was unbeaten on 50, and Bawa chipped in with a crucial 35. It was also a wicketkeeper who hit the winning six, as is common for Indian wicketkeepers in World Cup finals.

Despite the fact that England took wickets that prevented India from setting up big partnerships, the low mark of 190 put them under little strain. Only James Rew’s magnificent 95 prevented England from being down to 91 for 7 when Tom Prest chose to bat at the toss.
