World number five tennis star, Rafael Nadal created history as he lifted the 21st Grand Slam trophy of his career at the Rod Laver Stadium beating the current world number two Daniil Medvedev, on Sunday.
Medvedev brought the 35-year-old Spaniard to literal sweats and was dominating the game for a while. Nadal however, turned the match despite being down two sets.
The world waited for the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ (GOAT) in tennis to win the Australian Open after 13 years and break a barrage of other records alongside.
The winning moment sent the crowd up in a cheer, Nadal himself was seen with his hands over his mouth as the reality settled down on him.
Nadal was also seen appreciating his opponent as he said, “[To] share the court with you is just an honour.”
And, finally, here is the winner lifting the trophy.
