Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes on Saturday said that the Red Devils needed to look forward after their disappointing draw at home against Leicester City, which put their hopes for a top four finish in jeopardy.

The draw at Old Trafford on Saturday saw United, who were without the talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo, lose out on a chance to leapfrog fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur to go level on points with Arsenal in the fourth-place.

Commenting on the heavily disappointing result, the Portuguese midfielder told MUTV, “Everyone is disappointed.”

“This result was not the result that we want but there is nothing we can do now,” a dejected Fernandes went on.

“We have to look ahead to the next game and understand that the standard of this club has to be higher and better, and we know we are capable of that,” the 25-year-old said.

United went behind to a Kelechi Iheanacho goal in the 63rd minute, but were not behind for long as Fred equalised less than five minutes later.

“It was important also for the confidence, to push us and obviously the fans start to believe a little bit more with us, start pushing a little bit more,” Fernandes told MUTV, commenting on Fred’s equaliser.

“As I said before, we started to create a little bit more, we try to win the game but at the end we couldn’t,” Fernandes said about United’s late push for a winner.

With eight games left to play in the 2022/23 Premier League season, United’s chances of a Champions League spot finish aren’t completely gone, and the next few games will be crucial for the Red Devils if they want to play in the top flight of European football next season.
