Following their 3-1 loss against Arsenal on Sunday, West Bromwich Albion have been relegated from the English Premier League.

First-half goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Nicolas Pepe left West Brom struggling at 2-0 down.

Although Matheus Pereira pulled a goal back in the 67th minute, West Brom’s fate was sealed when Arsenal’s Willian made it 3-1 with a superb free-kick in the last minute of normal time.

West Brom will join already-relegated Sheffield United in playing in the second-tier Championship.

However, West Brom did manage to pull off a few remarkable results throughout the season, including a 5-2 win against this year’s Champions League finalist Chelsea.

Following the result, the Baggies’ boss Sam Allardyce said, “I’m absolutely gutted,” according to the club website.

“It’s obviously been something which many people thought was coming our way for a while, but it’s still a really tough one to take. It’s a horrible feeling.

“Speaking honestly, the sad thing is we shouldn’t be here. We had so many chances not to be in this position with three games to go,” he added.
