Ben Gordon, a former National Basketball Association (NBA) player, was arrested on Friday after allegedly punching a Mcdonald’s security guard. According to the Chicago Tribune, Gordon has been charged with misdemeanor battery causing bodily harm and battery making physical contact.

Police said that Gordon was arrested at the scene around 3:30 am. They were responding to a 911 call reporting a disturbance by a man at a local McDonald’s. Gordon allegedly hit the 29-year-old security guard on the face and pushed another 21-year-old during the course of an altercation.

Who is Ben Gordon?

Ben Gordon was born on April 4, 1983, in London, England. He is a basketball player and played with four NBA teams. He is the only player ever to have won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.

Though Gordon was born in the United Kindom, his family moved to the United States when he was still an infant. He grew up in Mout Vernon, New York, and played high school basketball for the Mount Vernon Knights.  

He joined the University of Connecticut and immediately got into the basketball team. In his first year for the Uconn team, Gordon became the second-highest scorer despite starting from the bench in most matches. He declared himself eligible for the NBA draft in 2004 and was picked up by the Chicago Bulls.

He played for the Chicago Bulls for five seasons in total, moving to the Detroit Lions in 2009. After three season with the Pistons, he joined the Charlotte Bobcats and played for them till 2014. In the 2014, Gordon moved to the Orlando Magic in a $9 million deal. Even though the deal was for two years, they cut his contract short and let him go in 2015.

His last stint in the NBA came with the Golden State Warriors.
