Ben Gordon, the former NBA guard was taken into custody for carrying weapons and threatening after he started behaving erratically in a Connecticut juice shop and employees called 911, police said.

Gordon was acting bizarrely and aggressively and allegedly displayed a knife inside the Atlantic Street job while making a verbal threat, according to Stamford police. The 40-year-old’s birthday fell on the same day of the incident.

He continued to act erratically when officers reached and tried to arrest him, Stamford city assistant police chief, Richard Conklin said.

Eventually, officers subdued Gordon and placed him under arrest. A folding knife was found in Gordon’s pocket, as well as a stun gun and brass knuckles in his backpack, said Conklin.

In addition to carrying a dangerous weapon, he was charged with second-degree threatening and interfering with law enforcement.

Who is Ben Gordon?

Ben is a former American professional basketball player. He was the shooting guard for the Chicago Bulls. He was picked 3rd overall at the 2004 NBA Draft by the Bulls.

Gordon was born on April 4, 1983, in London, England. He was raised in Mount Vernon, New York. The Mount Vernon Knights won the 2000 New York State Public and Federation Championships under his leadership. Gordon was among the top 40 recruits in the country.

Gordon joined the University of Connecticut and helped the UConn Huskies win the NCAA Championship.

After being drafted by the Chicago Bulls, Gordon became the first rookie in history to win the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2005. Eventually, he played for many other NBA teams, including the Detroit Pistons, the Charlotte Bobcats, and Orlando Magic.

Gordon played 11 NBA seasons and 4 playoffs.

He is married to Sascha Smith. Gordon owns a sports rehabilitation center named “Of Our Own.” In 2017, he was involved in several law and order issues.
