Darrell Henderson is an American football running back and currently plies his trade in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams. He helped the Rams win the Super Bowl on February 11, 2022, with 4 carries for 7 yards and catching 3 receptions for 43 yards in the 23-20 win over Cincinnati Bengals.

Who is Darrell Henderson?

Darrell Henderson was born on August 19, 1997, in Batesville, Mississippi, and did his high schooling at South Panola High School there. Throughout his high school career, he rushed for 5,801 yards and scored 68 touchdowns. He committed to the University of Memphis to play his collegiate football for the Memphis Tigers from 2016-18. 

In 2016, his freshman year, Henderson featured in 13 games, starting 6 of them. He made 482 yards on 87 carries with 5 touchdowns. The following year, he started 10 of the 12 games he featured in, rushing for 1,154 yards on 130 carries, with nine touchdowns. At the end of a breakout junior season in which he rushed for 1909 yards on 214 carries with 22 touchdowns, he decided to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Henderson was signed by the Los Angeles Rams in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft as the 70th overall pick.

His rookie season was punctuated by injury as he finished the 2019 season with 39 carries for 147 rushing yards, along with 4 catches for 37 yards in the 13 games he featured in.

In 2020, his second season, he finished as the Rams’ second leading rusher having made 624 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns as well as 16 receptions for 159 yards and a receiving touchdown.

The following year, 2021, was a memorable one for Henderson. He finished the regular season with a career-high 688 yards and five rushing touchdowns, and 29 catches for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns, in spite of being placed on injury reserve. 

He returned just in time from injury to take his place in the squad for Super Bowl LVI and helped the Rams to a memorable 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals making 4 carries for 7 yards and catching 3 receptions for 43 yards in the showpiece event.
