South African star batter David Miller posted a heart-wrenching video on the social media platform Instagram on Saturday, October 8. “RIP my dear princess, love will always be there!” the caption of the video on Instagram read which comprised pictures with a little girl.

Miller is part of the South Africa cricket team that is currently on a tour to India. He also played against Team India in an ODI match on October 6, where he scored an undefeated 75 runs off 63 balls, with a strike rate of 119.05. He also hit five boundaries and three sixes in that match.

Who is David Miller?

David Miller is a South African international cricketer, who was born on June 10, 1989, in Pietermaritzburg, Natal Province, South Africa. When he was growing up, Miller participated in several sports such as tennis, hockey and squash. However, he later became deeply interested in cricket and made a career out of it.

He made his debut in South African first-class cricket for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins at the SuperSport Series in the 2007-08 season. In his maiden first-class innings, Miller scored a half-century. He went on to make eight appearances in the MTN Domestic Championship later in the 2007-08 season. 

Miller rose to fame quickly with his consistent performances as he made his T20I debut against the West Indies at North South on May 20, 2010. Two days later, he also made his ODI debut for South Africa, when he played against the West Indies at the same stadium on May 22, 2010. He is yet to make his Test debut for the Proteas.

The South African maverick made his ODI debut when he was only 20 and played 13 matches for the Proteas ahead of the 2011 ICC World Cup. However, he was not picked in the final squad for the World Cup despite delivering consistent performances.

Miller has scored 3,557 runs in 147 matches in his ODI career. He has also scored five centuries and 18 half-centuries in ODI cricket in his career. Meanwhile, he has scored 2,069 runs in 107 matches in T20I cricket, with two centuries and five half-centuries.
