Who is Henry Ruggs?
Henry James Ruggs III, a former American football wide receiver, had a brief but impactful career in the National Football League (NFL) spanning two seasons. Ruggs played collegiate football for the University of Alabama before joining the NFL. He was a member of the squad that won the 2018 Collegiate Football Playoff National Championship. The Las Vegas Raiders were drawn to his exceptional skills and chose him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
But tragedy struck when Ruggs caused a car accident that killed a 23-year-old lady and her dog during his second season in the NFL. Ruggs was released by the Raiders on the same day as a result of this unfortunate tragedy. Ruggs later entered a plea of guilty to both a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter and a felony count of driving under the influence (DUI) resulting in death on May 10, 2023.
