Croatia beat Japan in the Round of 16 knockout match on Monday to progress into the quarter-finals of FIFA World Cup 2022. Their win did not come easy as they had to calm their nerves following a 1-1 draw and their goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic had to save three penalties in the shootout. 

Domagoj Vida is a Croatian professional footballer, who played as a  defender for Croatia in Monday’s match, currently plays for the Super League Greece club AEK Athens and the Croatia national team. Vida has been a mainstay of the Croatia squad for over a decade, having made his debut in 2010. Previously, Vida played for the Superlig club Beşiktaş. He has played for many big clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Dynamo Kyiv.

The 33-year-old defender played six games during Croatia’s run to the final in 2018, when the World Cup was hosted by Russia. At the time, Vida was cheered on in Russia by his wife Ivana.

Ivana Vida is the former Miss Croatia. She was born on January 6,  1994, in Metković, Croatia. 

Ivana is very private about her personal life and she hasn’t disclosed any information about her family. She is an Instagram influencer and a fashionista. She can often be seen reading the books of famous designers.

Domagoj and Ivana have been dating since 2013 after they met in a nightclub in Zagreb. It appeared to be love at first sight. The couple got married in 2017. 

Former Bayer Leverkusen and Dynamo Kyiv star was with Ivana when she claimed her Miss Croatia Universe title in 2014. They welcomed their first child, David Vida, in 2015.
