Javonte Williams is an American football running back and currently plies his trade in the NFL with the Denver Broncos. He was drafted by the Broncos in the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has just completed his first season in the NFL.

Who is Javonte Williams?
Javonte Williams was born on April 25, 2000, in Wallace, North Carolina, and did his high schooling at Wallace-Rose Hill High School in Teachey, NC. Through his senior year in high school, he rushed for 2271 yards and scored 27 touchdowns. He committed to the University of North Carolina to play his collegiate football for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2018-20.
In 2018, his true freshman year, Williams featured in 11 games, He made 224 yards on 43 carries with 5 touchdowns. The following year, he played in all 13 games for the Tar Heels, rushing for 933 yards on 166 carries, with eight touchdowns.

Throughout his junior year, in 2020, Williams had some of the best running back statistics in the country and was mentioned as a legitimate dark horse candidate for the 2020 Heisman Trophy which is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. That year, Williams was named to the 2020 Pro Football Focus (PFF) First-Team All-America at the running back position. PFF also named him the 2020 ACC Football Player of the Year after he scored a record-breaking 95.9 PFF rushing grade- the highest rushing grade ever recorded in a single season since the site began covering college players.

Williams was signed by the Denver Broncos in the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL Draft as the 35th overall pick.
Williams was officially named as the Broncos’ backup running back before the start of his rookie season. He made his debut in Week 1 against the New York Giants, recording 14 carries for 45 yards to mark a win on debut. He finished his rookie season having appeared in all 17 games, with 1 start, and recorded 203 carries for 903 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns plus 43 receptions for 319 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.
