With a round-best 63, Masters champion Jon Rahm moved up from 39th to second and placed himself in contention for the Open Championship on Saturday. At the time of finishing, he was four shots behind second-round leader Brian Harman after his third round of 8-under-par and 6-under overall.

Rahm started to heat up in the middle of the round, birdieing four holes in a row from holes nine to twelve, then adding two more on holes 15 and 16, including a long, 33-foot putt on hole 16. In stark contrast to the seven bogeys he had the previous two days, he had a round without any bogeys. On hole 18, Rahm left himself a difficult 11-foot putt, which he sank for a birdie.
