Who is Julián Álvarez?

Born on January 30th, 2000, Álvarez is a professional football player. He represents the Argentinian National Team and also plays for Premier League Club Manchester City. Álvarez plays as a forward and is known for his strategic playing abilities.

Álvarez also goes by the nickname La Araña. In 2018–19, the 22-year-old Argentine began playing for River Plate. He played for the Argentine Primera División for five years. He appeared in 96 games for River Plate in all and scored 36 goals.

Currently playing for Premier League champions Manchester City, Álvarez has made 20 appearances and registered 7 goals.

Álvarez was chosen by Argentina’s U20 team to train against the senior team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was chosen for the 2019 South American U-20 Championship in December. In May 2019, Fernando Batista called him up for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Álvarez made his senior team debut for Argentina on June 3, 2021, against Chile in a World Cup qualifier. In the 62nd minute, he substituted Ángel Di María as his replacement. He scored his first goal for Argentina on March 29, 2022, in a 1-1 tie with Ecuador.

Álvarez was included as a member of Argentina’s 26-man roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored his first World Cup goal against Poland on November 30 in the last group-stage match. On December 3, Álvarez scored his second World Cup goal in Argentina’s match against Australia.
