Who is Max Preps?

Max Preps – a junior defensive back – backed up after the sucker punch and appeared to hunch over in pain as the coach continued to yell.

An Atlanta Public School police officer removed the coach from the sidelines during the game and took him into arrest. The coach will be charged with simple batter and face administrative sanctions, a spokeswoman told Atlanta News First.

“A lay coach for Mays High School, who is not a classroom instructor, is in police custody after an incident that occurred on the sideline during the school’s game this afternoon against Douglas County High School,” spokesman Seth Coleman told Atlanta First. “The lay coach will be charged with simple battery and face administrative charges from the district.

“The safety and well-being of all APS students remains a high priority for the district and all APS employees are held to the highest standard of conduct and professionalism,” the statement continued.

Mays went on to lose to Douglas 48-44 in the non-regional contest.

Two weeks prior, multiple fights broke out during a football scrimmage for Mays High School.

The event happened the same weekend that Rush Propst, a former high school football coach in Alabama, tossed his headset at a player who just so happened to be his son.

Most netizens were not in agreement with the nature of the arrest of the unidentified coach. One fan on Instagram wrote, “Y’all are so soft he was literally just tryna rough him up. Arresting for that light tap is crazy. If this got him arrested then my sports coach would damn near be taken to Alcatraz if what he did to us was on tape.”

One fan described his own experience with one of his coaches and stated he had been through more of the same. They wrote, “If he got arrested for that love tap… I wonder what my coaches would’ve gotten… just a little tune up to refocus.”
