Reportedly, Mike Krzyzewski, legendary basketball coach for Duke University Men’s team, is set to retire come the end of the 2021-2022 season. The announcement will bring to an end almost a 42-year-long tenure at the helm of the Blue Devils’ program.

Famously known as “Coach K”, Krzyzewski started his career as an assistant at Indiana in 1974 after bringing down the curtain on his playing days. 

Since then, through the 41 seasons, he has led Duke to 1,097 wins in 1,399 games, a winning percentage of 78.4.

His 1,170 total wins – he spent five years at Army before taking over at Duke, winning 73 total games – are the most wins ever by a college coach.

Krzyzewski will be ending his career with a glittering silverware cabinet. Over his incredible career, the Chicago-born won the NCAA Championship five times, has five Olympic medals – including two as an assistant coach. He was also inducted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame in 2009.
