Arrayah Barrett, Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Shaquil Barrett’s 2-year-old daughter, drowned in their family swimming pool on Sunday.
“Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time. While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah,” Tampa Bay said in a statement.
Tampa Police said that they responded to a call for a child who had fallen into a swimming pool around 9:30 AM on Sunday. Shaquil Barrett’s 2-year-old daughter was taken to a nearby hospital but she did not survive.
Tampa Bay Times reported that an investigation is ongoing. Authorities, however, see no suspicious activity and Arrayah’s death should be accidental, the report says.
Arrayah was the youngest of Barrett’s four children. The Tampa Bay linebacker since 2019 married his wife, Jordanna, on February 2, 2012.
Shaq and Jordanna’s other three children are: Shaquil, Braylon, Aaliyah.
