Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly asked the club’s officials to wait out the drama that has been unfolding over quite some time now in regards to the Frenkie de Jong transfer. Although the situation has been playing out over 13 weeks till date, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils manage to get their hands on their prime target of this transfer season.

Barcelona, the club de Jong currently represents, is said to be willing to let go of the Dutch international. A transfer fee of £56.2 million, with add-ons pushing the price to around £72 million, has been agreed upon by both parties. However, the Catalan giants are yet to pay the €17 million wages that they owe to de Jong. Diario Sport reports that United will likely take care of the debts in order to sign the 25-year-old.

The situation has further complicated now with Chelsea also being named as a potential destination for the midfielder. United legend and football pundit Gary Naville has himself tweeted regarding the same:

Barcelona have already boosted their squad ahead of the 2022-23 season’s commencement by signing players like Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde.

Another situation which is haunting United fans is the probable departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has asked the club to free him from his two-year contract.
