Football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic and France President Emmanuel Macron were spotted in the stands ahead of the Argentina vs France clash at the FIFA World Cup 2022 final. They were also joined by 2018 World Cup winner Paul Pogba.

Zlatan has himself spent a long time in France when he played for PSG. He is also a former teammate of Argentina captain Lionel Messi, with whom he spent one season at Barcelona.

The Lusail Stadium is packed to the rafters with A-listers for the grand final, including stars like Pogba who would have been playing for their teams if not for injury issues.

Pogba was spotted sitting next to Ibrahimovic, chatting with President of France Emmanuel Macron and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Other celebrities in attendance include the world’s second richest person and new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk.

It’s 2-2 between Argentina and France after regulation time and the match goes into extra time. Two goals by Kylian Mbappe toward the close of the second half have put the defending champions back in the game. Argentina has a 2-0 lead against France at half-time in the World Cup final by goals by Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria.

Messi scored on a 23rd-minute penalty kick after a foul on Di Maria. Thirteen minutes later Di Maria finished off a flowing team move involving a deft flick from Messi. The Argentina caption scored on a penalty to register his 12th world cup goal.

Lionel Messi is making a record 25th appearance at the World Cup, passing a tie with Germany legend Lothar Matthaus. Messi’s games have been spread over five World Cups, beginning in 2006. He has 12 goals in total, tied for sixth on the all-time list. Messi has said this is likely to be his last World Cup.
