Google Chrome is one of the most popular, if not outright the most popular, internet browsers in the world. Its popularity is largely based on the number of features it boasts of, which make it all the more user-friendly.

Here’s five such features that you may not know about that make Chrome stand out from the rest:

1. Play media directly in browser:

Chrome has a very basic built-in media player that can prove very useful in case you are in a hurry. Just drag the audio/video file into a new tab and it will play. 

2. Cast a screen

You can cast a screen on a Chromecast-enabled device for a better viewing experience. Select the three dots on the top right corner of the browser, and you will see a ‘Cast…’ option, allowing you to cast Youtube, Netflix, or other your screen as it is.

3. Save tabs when shutting down Chrome

In scenarios where your laptop runs out of power and shuts down, do not worry about the 20 odd tabs that were open on Chrome. You can simply reopen all those tabs after retaerting Chrome. Just go to ‘Settings’, click on ‘On’ start-up option and select ‘Continue’ to pick up where you left off. 

4. Group tabs for easy browsing

In case you have a lot of tabs open and cannot figure out which is which, Google has a tab grouping feature to make your life easier. Just right click on a tab and select ‘Add to new Group’ option.

You can add or remove as many tabs as you like and can also hide a particular group of tabs.

5. View the same tab on other devices

You can view the same tabs that are open on your desktop on a tablet, smartphone or other devices by right clicking on the URL address bar and selecting ‘Send to your Google Devices’ option. 

Having Google Chrome on that particualr device and turning on Sync are two prerequisites for this option.
