Elon Musk on Friday announced that the second edition of Tesla AI Day had been postponed to September 30, from its initial date of August 19, 2022.
“Tesla AI Day pushed to Sept 30, as we may have an Optimus prototype working by then,” the 50-year-old billionaire tweeted, referring to the humanoid general-purpose AI robot unveiled by the electric vehicle company last year.
Musk also went on to promise that “Tesla AI Day #2 will be epic.”

For those unaware, Tesla AI Day was started last year, where the aforementioned AI robot, Tesla Bot, was announced.
Designed to do “dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks” the Tesla Bot, named Optimus, had not been functional last year, and the company had said that it would have a working prototype ready for 2022.

The 2021 event also saw the company showcase a photorealistic rendering of its Cybertruck, which is likely to go into production in 2023.
Additionally, the electric vehicle company also unveiled its supercomputer, Dojo, making an event designed to attract AI experts into a miniature tech show.

What to expect from Tesla AI Day 2:
As Musk himself has stated, Tesla AI Day 2 could see the unveiling of a functional Optimus prototype.
Additionally, the company may also dedicate some time to its Full Sell-Driving (FSD) system: despite the beta version being available to some users since October 2020, the $12,000 FSD system is still not available to the public at large, with a general launch being delayed time and again.
Beyond these, there’s scant information on the upcoming event, and more details are expected to emerge as we edge closer to the date.
