French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped by a man during a trip to southeast France on Tuesday, reported AFP quoting an aide.
According to BFP news channel, Emmanuel Macron approached the barrier to shake hands with the bystander, when he slapped the President, while he was in the village of Tain-l Hermitage in the Drone region.
The security officials of Macron quickly rushed to his rescue, and pinned the attackers to the ground. Two people have been detained by the officials for questioning.

In the video, which is being circulated on social media, a man dressed in a green t-shirt could, with a face mask, can be seen slapping the French President, as soon as he approached the barrier to shake hand.
The man, who slapped the French President, could be heard shouting “Down with Macronia” (A Bas La Macronie), in the viral video.

The incident took place when the French President was in the Drome region, interacting with the students and others on how life is returning to normal life after the pandemic.
This is not the first incident when Emmanuel Macron was hit. Earlier in July 2020, Macron and his wife Brigitte were verbally abused by a group of protesters, while taking an impromptu walk through the Tuileries gardens in central Paris.
