There%20are%20two%20types%20of%20SONAR%2C%20Active%20and%20Passive%3A

Active%20SONAR%3A%20Active%20SONAR%2C%20mainly%20comprises%20transmitter%20and%20receiver.%20The%20transmitter%20generates%20and%20transmits%20high-frequency%20sound%20waves%20towards%20the%20target%20and%20then%20the%20receiver%20receives%20the%20vibrations%2C%20which%20are%20reflected%20back%20from%20the%20target.

Passive%20SONAR-%20It%20is%20used%20primarily%20to%20detect%20noise%20from%20marine%20objects%20and%20marine%20animals%2C%20without%20transmitting%20the%20sound%20waves%20towards%20the%20targetted%20object.
