Rudy Giuliani has reacted angrily to Donald Trump’s latest indictment on charges to disrupt the 2020 presidential election.

In a rant on right-wing network Newsmax on Tuesday night, Guilani, the guy identified in the indictment as “co-conspirator 1”, argued that special counsel Jack Smith should be arrested for indicting Trump.

The attorney, who is being investigated by an attorney disciplinary body, went on to accuse Smith of being a “unethical lawyer.”

“After the Supreme Court threw out your case, which should have been a disgrace… you should have gone and found another profession because you don’t belong in this one.”

“This one will be your legacy, violating the rights of free speech of an American citizen. Nevermind whether he was president or not.”

He continued: “It could be anybody. It could be a homeless person. You don’t get to violate people’s first amendment rights, Smith. No matter who the hell you are, no matter how sick you are with Trump derangement syndrome.”

The former New York City mayor then held a copy of Mr Trump’s indictment to the camera before slamming it back down on the table in an odd moment.

“This isn’t the first time you’ve acted like an unethical lawyer,” he pointed out. “It really should be the last.”

On Tuesday, a federal indictment was returned against the former president by a grand jury that had spent months hearing evidence in special counsel Mr Smith’s inquiry.

Trump was charged with four counts: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to impede an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempted obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

The accusation, Mr Trump’s second federal indictment and third overall, alleges that he plotted with his allies to rig the 2020 presidential election in order to destroy the American people’s vote.

While the former president is the sole person charged, the indictment names six others who collaborated with him to try to reverse the election.

The six people – four solicitors, one Justice Department worker, and one political consultant – aren’t named in the charging paperwork since they haven’t been charged with anything yet.
