The Delhi
police on Sunday arrested two members of the terror outfit Khalistan Zindabad
Force, who had hoisted a Khalistani flag on the eve of India’s Independence Day atop
the District Collector’s office in Punjab’s Moga, news agency ANI reported.

The arrested
individuals, Inderjeet Gill and Jaspal Singh, were also part of terrorist Gurpatwant
Singh Pannu’s US-based pro-Khalistan outfit ‘Sikhs for Justice’.

The two
miscreants removed the tricolor from atop the building and hoisted the Khalistani
flag, prompting Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to direct the state police chief
to ensure their immediate arrest, reported PTI.

The Punjab
police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to the
arrest of the duo, with the chief minister pledging to “teach a lesson” to anti-India
elements like Pannu.

Moga Superintendent
of Police Harmanbir Singh Gill said that the two youths snuck inside the
building along with employees reporting for duty and reached the top of the
four-storied building to hoist a saffron Khalistan flag after removing the tricolor,
adding that the police have CCTV pictures of the two.

He also
confirmed that a case under various sections of the Prevention of Insults to
National Honour Act, had been registered.

Moga Deputy
Commissioner Sandeep Hans said that the miscreants chose a time when employees
were arriving as there would be no suspicions and called the incident an “act
of cowardice”.

The chief minister
urged youngsters not to pay heed to the propaganda of such anti-India elements.
“Some get emotionally swayed by such vicious propaganda,” Singh said.

In reaction
to a video where Pannu called for marking India’s Independence Day by raising
black flags, Singh said Indian Punjabis were uninterested
in such acts at the behest of someone sitting in Canada or the USA.

“Why should
they (the people of Punjab) do it? If you have the guts, you come here and do
it. Pannu does not even look like a Punjabi and does all this only for
extracting money,” he said.
