HBO Max has finally unveiled the long-awaited trailer for “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” its forthcoming special that will reunite the cast and producers from the eight-film series and will premiere on January 1. The first film in the Harry Potter franchise, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” was released in November 2001, and the special will mark the franchise’s 20th anniversary.

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour London taped “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts”, which will reunite stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, and Evanna Lynch will all be present for the reunion. David Heyman, Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates are among the film’s creators.

The cast talks about the movies in the trailer, as well as the festivities in the Great Hall. Watson says, “It feels like no time has passed — and loads of time has passed.” Some thing that had scared him was “the implication that the most meaningful thing in our life was done,” Radcliffe says, adding that seeing everyone is “joyous” because he realises “it wasn’t though.”

During “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” Bonham Carter states she “had to pretend to be Hermione pretending to be Belletrix” while they broke into Gringotts. “I’ve still got the teeth,” she says in discussion with Radcliffe, putting them in her mouth as he laughs.

“You’ve got to do it!” said Fiennes’ sister, who had “Harry Potter”-aged children at the time he was debating whether or not to portray Voldemort.

“When things get really dark, and times are really hard, there’s something about Harry Potter that makes life richer,” Watson says, as the key trio of friends talk in the Gryffindor common room.

“It’s a strong bond that we’ll always have,” Grint agrees as they embrace.

HBO Max has been progressively releasing promotional materials for the special, including the first look at Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint last week, as well as a teaser that showed Coltrane (Hagrid) and Lewis (Neville Longbottom) receiving their reunion invitations.

The key image for “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” was announced by HBO Max on Wednesday.
