Alex Murdaugh, a disgraced South Carolina lawyer convicted of killing his wife and adult son, is currently undergoing his sentencing hearing. Social media is flooded with posts about the proceedings. Murdaugh is currently being ridiculed on social media for wearing an unusually colored brown jumpsuit.

Alex Murdaugh was released into the care of the South Carolina Department of Corrections after receiving a life term for the murders of his wife and son.

He was seen escorting a law enforcement officer out of the courthouse while clad in a brown jumpsuit and handcuffs.

According to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, Murdaugh will soon start the intake and evaluation procedure, which is anticipated to take several weeks. Typically, it takes 45 days on average.

According to a South Carolina legal source familiar with the case, Murdaugh will stay in a holding facility in Columbia, South Carolina, during that time.

Judge Clifton Newman stated that in order to ensure a fair trial during the sentencing hearing for disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, he had to have a portrait of Murdaugh’s grandpa taken down from the courthouse.

“You have a wife who has been killed, murdered. A son who has been savagely murdered. A lawyer, a person from the respected family who has controlled justice in this community for over a century, a person whose grandfather’s portrait hang at the back of the courthouse that I had to have ordered removed in order to ensure that a fair trial was had by both the state and the defense,” Newman stated.
