ESPN’s Marty Smith got a Victor Wembanyama haircut ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft. The Frenchman was picked by the San Antonio Spurs at No 1 on Thursday.

Wembanyama has been hyped up as a ‘generational’ talent. He is 7-foot-5 and was named France’s defensive player of the year. He led the league in points, rebounds and blocks.

Marty Smith got the haircut done by Mr Joe Barber.

“Show them what you’ve done,” Smith said in a video. “I’ve not seen it yet. What is in the back of my head right now, Joe? A portrait of Victor Wembanyama in the back of my head.”

“Didn’t think there was anything Marty Smith could do to make me not like him… I was wrong,” a Twitter user said.

“The whole Marty Smith schtick was cringeworthy. I respect him a lot as a journalist but have no idea what that was today,” another one added.

“If Marty Smith can do this, I can definitely get our storm team logo shaved into my head,” a third one tweeted.
