Fans noted that Tyler Glasnow looks like actor Cillian Murphy as Tampa Bay Rays pitcher took on the field vs the Texas Rangers on Friday. The two teams locked horns at the Tropicana Field in St Petersberg.

Murphy is an Irish actor popular for playing Thomas Shelby – the protagonist – in the British period crime drama Peaky Blinders. Glasnow is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On Friday, when the 29-year-old stepped on the field, several social media users pointed out that he looks like Cillian Murphy.

“Tyler Glasnow is just Cillian Murphy method acting for his next film post-Oppenheimer,” a Twitter user said.

“So, Tyler Glasnow REALLY looks like Cillian Murphy from the side. . .but only from the side. 😂” another one added.

“I think Tyler is waaaaaaaaay better looking. Nothing against Cillian. I think the 12 extra inches on Tyler comes into play,” a third person tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays come into Friday’s game after winning six consecutive fixtures. They emerged victorious in all three games of the series against the Minnesota Twins. Before that series, Glasnow and co had beaten the Boston Red Sox three times in a series that consisted of four games. They had lost the first match.

The Tampa Bay Rays have a record of 45-19 in their previous 64 games overall and 44-13 in their last 57 games played at home.

The Texas Rangers played a series against the St. Louis Cardinals before clashing with the Rays. The team won both their first two games of the series. But lost the decisive game 0-1. The Rangers have a 6-2 record in their last eight games away from home and 36-17 in their previous 53 games played overall.
