Our friendly neighbourhood God of Thunder is all set to go face to face against sharks in an epic summer event. Australian superstar Chris Hemsworth will kick off the 2021 edition of “SharkFest”.
The National Geographic ninth annual marathon begins Monday and continues for a great six weeks of shark-infested action. Across that time there’ll be 21 premieres across four networks and the Disney+ streaming platform.
The grand summer gala starts on July 5 with the premiere of the marquee SharkFest special, “Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth” at 9.00 pm EST, preceded by the first episode of “When Sharks Attack” at 8.00 pm EST, according to a news release from National Geographic.
In the episode, the 37-year-old actor can be seen uncovering the science behind the behaviours of sharks and also venture into how humans and sharks can safely coexist.
Over the years, there has been an increase in local shark attacks on the east coast of Australia, which leads Hemsworth to try to understand more about the different species of sharks and their behaviours.
The show has been filmed by production company Nutopia (One Strange Rock) and veteran underwater conservationist Valerie Taylor will join Hemsworth in this venture.
The previews and trailers of the documentary showed Hemsworth getting familiar with a shark they’re monitoring from the side of the boat.
First, they catch a medium sized shark and then take its measurements and other statistics.
Hemsworth can be also been seen getting messy and dirty as he tries to get an anal swab from the shark to know what it’s eating.
“Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth” will also be available to watch on Disney+ from Friday, July 9.
