Actor Alec Baldwin did not comment on the details of the
shooting incident that occurred on the set of his latest film,
“Rust,” in his first appearance in public after that day but he said
a few things about cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died on the set.
“I am not allowed to make any comments because it is an
ongoing investigation. I have been ordered by the Sheriff’s Department in Santa
Fe. I cannot answer any questions about the investigation. I cannot,” Baldwin
said in a video posted by TMZ.
He appeared on camera with his wife Hilaria Baldwin Manchester,
Vermont, according to CNN.
She was my friend. The day I arrived in Santa Fe to start
shooting, I took her to dinner with Joel the director,” Baldwin said about
Hutchins
“We were a very very well-oiled crew shooting a film
together and then this horrible event happened,” the actor added.
When one of those present in the video could not remember
the name of Hutchins, Baldwin’s wife looked upset.
“Her name is Halyna. If you’re spending this much time
waiting for us, you should know her name,” she said.
Baldwin revealed that he met with Hutchins’ family after the
incident.
The guy is overwhelmed with grief,” Baldwin said,
talking about Hutchins’ husband.
“There are incidental accidents on film sets from time
to time, but nothing like this. This is a one in a trillion episode,” the
actor added.
Baldwin had fired a prop gun on the sets of the film and it killed
Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. A search warrant linked to the
shooting incident of October 21 said that the film’s assistant director Dave
Halls did not check all the rounds loaded in the gun.
