Jack Dorsey, former Twitter CEO, said on Tuesday that Bitcoin will replace the US dollar. In a recent Twitter exchange with Grammy award-winning rapper Cardi B, who asked on Twitter if cryptocurrency will eventually replace the US dollar, to which Dorsey answered, “Yes, Bitcoin will.”

Cardi B’s Twitter exchange with the tech mogul about cryptocurrencies replacing the dollar elicited a flood of responses on the social networking site. Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, shared a meme claiming that Dogecoin is more stable than the US dollar. While Bitcoin investor Dennis Porter stated that “such a conversation was actually inevitable.”

Dorsey resigned from Twitter last month to work on fintech business Block, formerly known as Square, paving the way for Twitter’s new CEO, Parag Agrawal, who is now deeply involved in the company’s decentralized projects.

Dorsey earlier in October said that Block is trying to establish a bitcoin mining system based on customized silicon and open source for individuals and businesses. This would be in addition to Square’s other bitcoin-focused initiatives, which include a company developing an open developer platform and a hardware wallet for the cryptocurrency.

“If we do this, we’d follow our hardware wallet model: build in the open in collaboration with the community,” Dorsey said in a tweet. Jesse Dorogusker, Square’s hardware lead, will conduct an investigation into the requirements for Square to embark on the project of building a bitcoin mining system.

Dorsey is a Bitcoin enthusiast. His interest in cryptocurrencies dates back to 2017 when he began promoting Bitcoin as the king coin. Despite the fact that the crypto market fell in 2018, Dorsey remained undeterred, dubbing Bitcoin the future world currency, despite the fact that the digital currency was at its lowest point in recent years. Dorsey stated in March 2019 that he spends several thousand dollars each week on Bitcoin purchases.

Dorsey recently released the whitepaper for its decentralized Bitcoin exchange concept, tbDEX, which endorses blockchain technology for payment transparency. Dorsey has told investors that Bitcoin will be a “big part” of the company’s future.
