Texas in the US was recently hit by snow storm and it left the state without water and electricity and some people even lost their lives. Considering the fact that the state is use to warm climate, it wasn’t prepared for such adverse weather. But, as people were looking for heat and shelter in the state, another problem came to light online.

Bizarre conspiracy theories started doing rounds on the internet claiming that the snow in the state of Texas was fake. A lot of videos started circulating on the social media alleging that something was wrong with the snow. In some videos, people were seen lighting snowballs on fire and claiming that the snow was artificially made by the government and was not melting.

Here’s one such video that has gone viral claiming that the ‘snow is fake’:

What is the truth?

These videos are supposedly based on assumptions that do not actually “prove” that the government has made a giant snowfall in Texas.

Science blogger Phil Plait explained that, “the reason the snow doesn’t seem to melt in these viral videos is because it’s re-absorbing the water as it melts.” Plait also stated that the scorch impressions were produced by a chemical reaction, as per the reports from Slate.
