Hollywood actor Anne Hathaway said the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict is “breaking” her heart and called for an immediate de-escalation of the clashes.
Taking to Instagram, the American actor said, “It’s breaking my heart to see the terrible, escalating violence in Palestine and Israel, the bloodshed, the deaths, and the children killed.”

“I join UN Women and all those calling for an immediate deescalation of the conflict. Everyone has the right to live in peace and dignity,” she further said, in a statement.”
The UN Women’s in a statement said, “UN Women joins the United Nations Secretary-General and other UN entities in voicing grave concern at the continuing violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, particularly the targeting of civilian populations and killing of innocent people, including women and children.”

“UN Women calls on the international community to take note of the impact of this cycle of violence on vulnerable groups, especially women and children currently at risk of facing forced evictions in East Jerusalem and house demolitions in Gaza, and to foresee the need for expanded and gender-responsive humanitarian support, as well as gender-based violence, health and mental health services, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement read.

In the ongoing clashes between Israel and Palestine, which is the deadliest since 2014, over 141 Palestinians have been killed, while seven have been killed in Israel since Monday.
